Alejandro Cifuentes


Alejandro Cifuentes is a Full Research Professor at the National Research Council of Spain (CSIC) in Madrid, Head of the Laboratory of Foodomics and Director of the Metabolomics Platform (International Excellence Campus CSIC + University Autonoma of Madrid). He has been Founding Director of the Institute of Food Science Research and Deputy Director of the Institute of Industrial Fermentations, both belonging to CSIC. Alejandro's activity includes advanced analytical methods development for Foodomics (including transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics), food quality and safety, as well as isolation and characterization of natural bioactive compounds and their effect on human health. He holds different national and international awards, is member of the Editorial Board of 18 international journals (including Journal of Chromatography A, Journal of Separation Science, Food Analytical Methods, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Current Opinion in Food Science, Heliyon, Journal of Pharmaceutical Amalysis, etc.) and Editor of TrAC-Trends in Analytical Chemistry and Electrophoresis. He has published more than 260 SCI papers, 30 books and book chapters and 9 patents. His h index is 66 (Google scholar, January 2019) and his works have received more than 15000 citations. Alejandro has given more than 180 invited lectures in different national and international meetings in Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. He has defined for the first time in a SCI journal the new discipline of Foodomics.

Frantisek Svec

Czech Republic

Frantisek Svec is currently professor at the Pharmaceutical Faculty of the Charles University in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. He is also affiliated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, USA. His best known for research concerning the area of monoliths and their use in chromatography. He received numerous awards and distinctions for his pioneering work with monoliths including honorary doctorate in philosophy at Umeå University in Sweden, the ACS award in Chromatography, the AJP Martin gold medal, the CASSS award, the Medal of the Latin American Chromatography Committee, and many others. 

J.M.F. Nogueira 


Licenciou-se em Química Tecnológica pela Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) em 1990, tendo-se doutorado em Química (ramo: Química Orgânica) em 1995 e agregado em Química (especialidade: Química Analítica) em 2010 pela Universidade de Lisboa. Atualmente exerce as funções de Professor Associado com Agregação no Departamento de Química e Bioquímica (DQB) da FCUL, sendo membro do Centro de Química e Bioquímica da FCUL, liderando o grupo de “Ciência e Tecnologia de Separação” e dirigindo o laboratório de ‘Cromatografia & Electroforese Capilar’

Paola Dugo 


Dr. Paola Dugo is a full Professor of Food Chemistry at the University of Messina (Italy). Her research focuses on innovative chromatographic techniques and multidimensional techniques (heart-cutting and comprehensive) in combination with mass spectrometry for the study of natural and food products. In 2016, she received the “HTC-14 award” for the most innovative contribution in the field of hyphenated techniques in chromatography and separation technology and in July 2017 she was awarded with the “Giovanni Dugo” Medal for the outstanding work in the field of Separation Sciences applied to Food Chemistry.She is member of the editorial board of Flavour & Fragrance Journal (Wiley) and editor of Journal of Chromatography A (Elsevier).

Sílvia M. Rocha 


Sílvia M. Rocha is Professor at the Chemistry Department of Aveiro University UA). She is the leader of the x-Chroma Lab (http://xchromatographylab.x10.mx). She is the Coordinator at UA of the Erasmus mobility Programs, in Biochemistry area. She is also the vice-director of the Biochemistry Bachelor. She published over 120 SCI papers, 2 books, 16 book chapters, 1 interactive CD/book, more than 300 presentations in conferences, including and 3 patent applications, has received 19 national and international awards and distinctions and possesses h-index 32, with more than 2800 citations (http://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.url?authorId=7006653213). For the last 25 years, she has performed studies on the characterization of plant related materials, including the study of products and processes, prospection of bioactive compounds, and metabolomics-oriented studies to the comprehension of complex biological systems, based on the development of advanced chromatographic methodologies. She also has a significant expertise on the study of alcoholic beverage, namely table and fortified wine and more recently on beer.
